  • Day 24: Photo of the Pet, Day 25: Your day, in great detail, and Day 26: Weirdest accident

Day 24: Photo of the Pet
My pets are my stuffed animals :]

My two favorites are Jerry and Jeffrey (maybe I have an attraction to the letter J aha). They're both brown bears and gifts.

Jerry's birthday is July 14, 2003 (he is now 7 years old!). He was a birthday present to me from my uncle and I remember my aunt and uncle had to drive to a Toys 'R Us an hour or so away from their home to look for a gift because the one closest to their house was closed. But yes, Jerry is my absolute favorite. He has a rather large butt that sags a lot and a spinal cord/neck injury (i.e. a small hole there) that has not been fixed for a few months now. He's best buddies with Andy, Katie's 10 yr old panda bear. Jerry is known to be the athletic sporty half to Andy's brainiac nerdy side.

Jeffrey/NephJeff/Mr. Happy's birthday is December 6, 2009 (yes, I had to look through my emails to figure that out). He was a Secret Santa gift to me from Harry and he lived in a shoe box for a while before he was mine teehee. Jeffrey has a severe beer belly, but that's okay because that just makes his tummy a better pillow to rest your head on. The name Jeffrey/NephJeff was given to him by his uncle TimLin since he supposedly looks like a Jeffrey. His nickname is NephJeff because he is everyone's nephew. Thanks to Dr. Jessina Thomas, he no longer has holes near his mouth/snout and feet. He is currently donning an animal print bandana that I got from CTD and enjoys wearing shades. Jeffrey is best friends with Charlie the Unicorn - they like video chatting together a lot. Lastly, he enjoys spending lonely nights with his aunts and uncles that do not have any furry friends to turn to in times of frustration and depression.

    Day 26: Weirdest accident
Hmm, most of you have probably already heard about this, but oh well. I have indeed broken one of my bones before, my left ankle. I was in Madrid during the winter of my junior year of high school for an Intersession trip (the week after winter break is called Intersession Week where we don't have normal class, but instead can take classes in areas of our interest - that year, I decided to go on the Spain trip). It was the second or so day of our weeklong stay and I was walking down the stairs of our hostel to go to breakfast across the street. I think I thought the last step of the stairs was a lot closer than I imagined or something, so I stepped down into free space and fell face flat onto the ground. The guys were all staying on a floor below the girls, so I ended up falling to the guys' floor (how awkward and embarrassing). Those that saw/heard the fall asked me if I was alright, helped me up, and then brushed it off. I remember I had a lot of trouble walking to breakfast (it hurt more than a normal ankle sprain) and I couldn't eat since I always felt like I was going to pass or black out. It got so bad that while everyone was eating, I decided to just stand outside on the curb for some fresh air. I was probably super pale/sickly looking because everyone that passed looked at me oddly. Looking back on it now, that was probably my body's reaction to the slight trauma that had just occurred.

After breakfast, I found out that we were going to be climbing/hiking today, so I asked the supervising teacher for some Advil and just went with them. When we arrived at the site, I finally snuck a look at my ankle and it was swollen, purple, and bruised, I was kind of shocked by how it looked (I wish I had a few pictures of it to show you). A few guys offered to carry me up the mountain or whatever, but of course being me, I refused. The teacher later got me an ice pack and some ankle wrap and asked if I wanted to go to the hospital. I decided to just stick to the Advil and shrugged it off as a severe ankle sprain, didn't want to ruin my time in Spain because of some messed up ankle. I spent the rest of the trip fine, walking on it lots, taking some Advil only when I really needed it, and came home with a huge ankle.

I didn't tell my mom about this till I returned. After seeing how huge it was even after a week, she decided to schedule an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon. Several x-rays later, I found out my left ankle was actually broken and that I needed surgery. The surgeon was amazed by how the pain had not gotten to me and commented that I had superhuman pain tolerance aha. So yeah, I had two surgeries, one to put a few bolts into my bones to repair the ankle and another to take the metal nails out. Now, all that's left is a scar on my ankle and a fear of stairs.

  • Day 20: Odd habit of yours

[Yes, I know I'm going backwards.]

Hmm, I didn't think I do anything too odd, but then I thought of one (ish). Now I don't believe this is too strange (everyone should be like this!), but I am very OCD about my iTunes. Meaning that whenever I download a new album or even a song, I need to make sure that all categories are filled correctly (song title, artist, album, genre, album artwork, track number, and etc.), using the right form of capitalization and punctuation as well.  I haven't gone so far as to make sure that all the years are correct, but maybe I'll go through my library one day and do that when I'm bored :P

I also like to music hoard as well. So if there are more than 2-3 songs I like in a certain album, I would just download the entire album, but that makes me angry because I would see a lot of zero play counts in my music library boo. One of my goals in life is to have an iTunes library where all the songs have at least 1 play count recorded. Oh, and because I want all my songs to be somewhat uniform, I don't rate any of my songs, not even my absolute favorite ones.

I'm sure some of you do this as well, so don't judge ahah!

  • Day 22 : A website and Day 18: Last item purchased

Yes, I did just skip the last five or so entries, but it just seemed fitting that today (day 22) was a website since I am actually planning to transfer most of my public blogging over to another site http://tutwins.blogspot.com/. This blogspot was originally my sister's, but since we're now headed off to Shanghai together for the next few weeks, we have decided to both contribute to this blog for the time being. So go there for updates on life and such, or not. I will still frequent this site from time to time and somewhat continue this 30 things in 30 days challenge as best as I can (i.e. only writing entries for the interesting topics). But yes, just wanted you all to know. Okay, byebye :]

    ----

Oh, and for Day 18: Last item purchased, that would be a Groupon for Gap. It was $25 for a purchase of up to $50 at Gap, so basically a 50% off discount which is a pretty good deal if I do say so myself. It expires before Thanksgiving, so hopefully I'll be able to use it before then. There's a Gap in downtown Evanston, Old Orchard, and on Michigan Avenue - I should be fine. But if any of you need/want anything from there, let me know and I might be able to use my Groupon to get it for you.

  • Day 16 : A song (and videos) that makes you cry (or nearly)

Songs usually don't make me cry because I don't listen closely or hard enough to the lyrics. I think the medium that touches my heart the most (or rather the easiest) is video/movies although I know people that grow teary-eyed from reading a book, seeing a picture, listening to a song, and etc.

However, I remember one song this past year that (possibly) brought tears to my eyes - Hillsong United's "The Stand."

I first heard this song during HMCC's Winter Retreat and I think the reason why it touched me so much was because I actually just stood there and took the time to read the lyrics to myself. I'm not exactly sure which verse of this song particularly struck me, but now as I'm reading through the lyrics again, I have a feeling it might be this one --
    You stood before my failure
Carried the Cross for my shame
My sin weighed upon Your shoulders
    My soul now to stand
These lyrics combined with the overall atmosphere in the room at the time brought tears to my eyes. Gosh, my favorite part of any church event is honestly the worship session. It's funny since these times of worship used to be when I would feel the most awkward because I wouldn't know what to do with myself, but now it's turned into the time that I would look most forward towards. Funny how that all works out teehee. Even now, I sometimes still do find myself tearful after a convicting sermon/powerful worship. As I remember one of the CSMP AA girls said, I truly do feel closest to God during worship.

And along the lines of things that make me cry, here are two videos that bring tears to my eyes. I wish I could embed Youtube videos into this entry instead of just copy/pasting the links. First one, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzqTFNfeDnE. Saw this during a Sunday Celebration and it just really moved me. I still go back to this video from time to time for encouragement. And here's the second one, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSMlIM9zLio. I would always feel so distant and removed from the war, but wow after watching this video, I have so much more appreciation and respect for our troops and their families. I especially liked the part at 5:35, adorable :]

  • Day 15 : A photo of people you don’t know

Wow, what an odd topic. Why exactly would I have a photo of people I don't know? I tried to look through the pictures on my computer for one of a random adorable baby, but I couldn't find any. I don't feel like Google Image-ing for one either because that would only make me seem like a bigger creeper.

The bulk of the pictures on my computer are either taken from this school year or last summer. I think I'll use this opportunity to put up some pictures from my vacation to Europe during the summer of 2009 :]
